PEARLS FROM THE GRIT
Last autumn I appeared in PEARLS FROM THE GRIT, a show that toured across Suffolk in September and early October. See the tour dates and ticket info by clicking here. This was part of a community words, film and music project celebrating Lowestoft's lost fishing village. The project was devised by Poetry People and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This has involved workshops in schools and residential homes, GritFest - a celebration day in Sparrows Nest Gardens - and the production of Pearls from The Grit, a show celebrating the lives of the people who lived on the village. The Grit book, which I co-wrote with Jack Rose in 1997 and has been the basic of the project, is currently being revised and will be republished in 2019. You can also follow The Grit on Facebook and to get more news or read more about the project over at the Poetry People website.
THE BUBBLE WRAP AVAILABLE
My new collection for children, The Bubble Wrap, is now available. I've also illustrated the book too in my own 'jaunty' style and we're saying it's suitable for children of all ages - from five to ninety five! Packed with poems you’ll also discover the best things about a sneeze, good words to send by bubble (and the best way to wrap them) and the noise a cow makes… going backwards down the stairs. It's published by a new imprint from the Poetry Business, 'Small Donkey' and is priced £6.95. You can buy it here.
